Walker County Emergency Management and its Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) recently received a generous donation of cot transporters, which will significantly enhance the county’s ability to quickly set up emergency shelters during disasters.
The donated equipment will streamline the process of moving and assembling cots, allowing emergency teams and volunteers to convert facilities into shelters more efficiently and with less physical strain.
The donation comes ahead of the 2025 storm season, offering a timely boost to local preparedness efforts. Walker County C.E.R.T., composed of trained community volunteers, plays a key role in supporting disaster response and relief efforts throughout the region.
Emergency officials say the new equipment will also help improve safety for volunteers and increase the speed at which shelters can be made operational following severe weather events or other emergencies.
