The Walker County Animal Shelter in Chickamauga is urgently asking for help after a surge in incoming animals has overwhelmed their capacity. The shelter reports that over the past week, they have taken in 36 new animals while only two found their forever homes. According to shelter officials, animals have arrived at a rate 18 times faster than they can be adopted out. All kennels are currently full. If you’re considering adopting a pet or want to help, visit the Walker County Animal Shelter’s website to see the animals waiting for a new home.
