The Empty the Shelters® adoption event returns to the Walker County Animal Shelter beginning Sunday, July 7, offering discounted pet adoptions through Friday, July 19.
During the event, adoption fees will be waived for animals over four months old, while pets under four months will have a reduced adoption fee of just $25.
Hosted by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, Empty the Shelters is a nationwide effort to reduce shelter overcrowding and help pets find permanent homes. Since its launch in 2016, the initiative has helped more than 324,000 animals get adopted from shelters across the country.
Walker County residents are encouraged to visit the shelter during the event to meet dogs and cats ready to join new families.
