High school students at LaFayette and Ridgeland looking to jump-start their college and career goals will have two new opportunities this fall, thanks to Walker Launch and Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC).

Beginning in Fall 2025, GNTC is launching dual enrollment programs in Mechatronics and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training—two fast-growing fields offering hands-on experience and direct pathways into the workforce.

The Mechatronics pathway will introduce students to the dynamic world of robotics, electronics, and mechanical systems—an ideal fit for those interested in automation, engineering, and advanced manufacturing.

Meanwhile, the EMT pathway offers students the chance to gain critical life-saving skills and prepare for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, a vital role in health care and public safety.

Both programs allow students to earn college credit while still in high school, helping them build valuable skills and get ahead academically and professionally.
