LAFAYETTE, GA – After several residents voiced concerns about the safety of turning from W. North Main Street onto Gordon Pond Road, the City of LaFayette took action to improve the intersection.
Community members cited limited visibility and fast-moving traffic as ongoing issues. In response, the city’s Public Works Department conducted a thorough review of traffic flow in the area and followed best practices in roadway design.
As a result, a new spur road has been constructed to create a safer, more navigable traffic pattern. The new layout, which is now open to the public, improves sight distance and helps calm traffic speeds, making the intersection safer for drivers.
“We appreciate the residents who brought this issue to our attention,” city officials said in a statement. “And we commend our Public Works team for their dedication and hard work in making this safety improvement a reality.”
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and adjust to the new configuration as they travel through the area.
