LaFayette to Hold Municipal Election November 4

The City of LaFayette will hold its municipal general election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, giving residents the opportunity to cast their votes for several key local offices, including Mayor, Municipal Judge, and Councilmembers for Wards 1 and 2.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the LaFayette Senior Center, located at 636 S. Main St.

Qualifying for candidates interested in running for office will take place at LaFayette City Hall, 207 S. Duke St., from Monday, August 18 through Wednesday, August 20. Qualifying hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. The qualifying fees are as follows:

  • Mayor: $126.00

  • Municipal Judge: $108.00

  • Councilmember, Ward 1: $108.00

  • Councilmember, Ward 2: $108.00

Early voting begins Tuesday, October 14, and continues through Friday, October 31, at the Walker County Courthouse Elections Office, 103 S. Duke St. Voting hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturday voting available on October 18 and October 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Voters wishing to cast an absentee ballot by mail must request one by contacting the Walker County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-638-4349. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Friday, October 24.

To participate in the upcoming election, residents must be registered to vote by Monday, October 6.
