A quiet Saturday morning in Trion turned tragic when a structure fire claimed the lives of two people on Ridgeway Drive.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the 1200 block of Ridgeway Drive, where flames had engulfed a home. Despite the efforts of multiple responding agencies, two individuals were found deceased inside the structure.
Chattooga County Coroner Jeremy McElhaney confirmed the fatalities and said the victims will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta for further examination and official identification.
Officials remain in the early stages of their investigation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities are working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal blaze.
The response included the Trion Fire Department, Summerville Fire Department, Hayes Correctional Fire Department, Atrium-Floyd EMS, the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, and representatives from the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.
