The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a recent phone scam involving individuals impersonating law enforcement officers.

According to the department, several community members have reported receiving phone calls from someone claiming to represent the Sheriff’s Office. The caller typically alleges that the person has an active warrant and must make an immediate payment to avoid arrest.

Officials emphasize that these calls are fraudulent.

“The Walker County Sheriff’s Office will never contact individuals by phone regarding active warrants,” the department stated. “We will also never solicit payment for fines or fees over the phone.”

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and to not provide any personal information or payment if they receive a suspicious call. Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by this scam is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office directly.

The department is continuing to investigate the reports and reminds the public to verify any unexpected law enforcement contact through official channels.
