CHICKAMAUGA, GA — Local veterans’ organizations are teaming up to honor those who served by placing wreaths on the graves of veterans at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park on December 13, 2025.
The effort, organized in memory of Donata Walker, who passed away on July 3, 2025, aims to place 1,000 wreaths this year. Individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations are invited to participate. A donation of $10 will purchase one wreath, with general donations supporting graves that are not specifically designated.
To request an order form or for more information, contact Jennie Chandler at 423-994-8485 or via email at [email protected]. Donations can be mailed to ALA Chickamauga Unit 217, P.O. Box 860, Chickamauga, GA 30707. Checks should be made out to ALA Chickamauga Unit 217 with Wreaths Across Walker County noted in the memo line. Orders must be received by November 18, 2025. Digital donations are also accepted via Cash App and Venmo.
Walker was instrumental in placing 530 wreaths in 2024, and organizers hope to continue her legacy by honoring even more veterans this year and in the future.
This annual initiative is supported by Chickamauga Unit 217, Chickamauga Post 217, LaFayette Unit 339, LaFayette Post 339, and Operation Outreach, with a shared mission of preserving the past and honoring those who served.
For those who wish to place wreaths at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, forms are also available upon request.
“Thank you for honoring our veterans,” organizers said, emphasizing the importance of remembering and celebrating those who served.
