Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger addressed the Dalton Rotary Club on Tuesday, offering insight into what a special election may look like to replace resigning U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Raffensperger outlined several priorities he believes are critical to the state’s long-term success, including continued investment in education and business development. He also emphasized the need for secure and efficient elections, noting that North Georgia voters will soon experience an accelerated election process due to the upcoming vacancy.

With Greene stepping down from her seat, a special election to choose her successor must be held. While the Governor is responsible for setting the official timeline, Raffensperger said his office is already preparing for the transition. He explained that once the schedule is released, it will allow candidates enough time to organize their campaigns, and added that election officials will be ready to administer the race.

State leaders are expected to announce details of the special election once the Governor issues the official call.
