LaFayette Mayor and Council to Hold Organizational Meeting Jan. 2

The LaFayette Mayor and City Council will hold an organizational meeting Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at 10 a.m. at City Hall.

The meeting will begin with a call to order, followed by an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. Council members will then conduct organizational business, including the swearing-in of newly elected officials, the election of a mayor pro tem, and the appointment of council committee members.

Several items are slated for consideration under new business. Council members will select a firm for the city’s Safe Streets for All Planning grant and review a variance request related to pond construction at Traverse Park.

The agenda also includes a public comments period for council members, the city clerk, the city attorney and city manager, and the mayor.

An executive session may be held to discuss matters involving real estate, litigation, or personnel, if necessary. The meeting will conclude with adjournment.

The meeting is open to the public.
