Friday marked the first business day of the new year, and the City Council convened for its annual organizational meeting.
During the meeting, officials elected in 2025 were formally sworn into office, including Mayor Andy Arnold, Judge Kenneth Maples, Councilwoman Jenny Cook, and Councilman Tom Langford.
The City Council also voted to appoint Councilman Tom Langford as Mayor Pro Tem. In this role, Langford will assume the duties of mayor in the event of the mayor’s absence.
The organizational meeting is held each year to officially seat newly elected officials and establish leadership roles for the upcoming term.
