Walker County School Board to Meet Tuesday

The Walker County Board of Education will hold its regular session meeting Tuesday, January 20, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Department of Education Building, located at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette.

Board members will open the meeting with the call to order, invocation, and pledge to the flags, followed by approval of the agenda.

During special recognitions, the board will honor the LaFayette Middle School Ramble Radio Club for its achievements.

Items of information on the agenda include the superintendent’s report and an update on district facilities.

Several individual action items are scheduled for consideration, including approval of the district’s financial report and the local facilities plan.

The board will also consider multiple consent agenda items, including approval of minutes from recent meetings held on December 3, December 9, and December 15, 2025. Additional consent items include a collaborative partnership agreement with Valdosta State University at no cost to the district, a master service agreement with Language Line Services funded through VIB and special education, and a memorandum of agreement with Medical Provider Services, Inc. using local funds.

Contracts for HVAC and lighting renovations at Gordon Lee Elementary School and Ridgeland High School, both funded through ESPLOST, are also listed for approval, along with a school contract for a Scholastic Book Fair at Saddle Ridge Elementary Middle School.

The agenda includes time for new business and public participation. The board may enter executive session before considering personnel recommendations and adjourning the meeting.
