The owner of a Hamilton County restaurant was arrested in Walker County last month and has since been deported to Mexico, according to jail records and a published report.
Guillermina Solano Chala, owner of Miss G’s Tortas and Tamales, was taken into custody after being stopped by a Georgia State Trooper in Walker County. According to an arrest report, the traffic stop was initiated due to a broken passenger-side headlight.
The report states that Solano Chala was unable to provide a valid form of identification and was charged with driving without a license. She was transported to the Walker County Jail following the stop.
According to the arrest report, the Department of Homeland Security conducted an investigation following her arrest and determined that Solano Chala was an undocumented immigrant.
Walker County participates in the federal 287(g) program, a partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that allows local law enforcement agencies to coordinate with federal immigration authorities.
Jail records indicate that Solano Chala was released to ICE custody the same day she was booked into the Walker County Jail. She was later deported to Mexico, according to WTVC-TV.
No additional details about her current status or the future of the restaurant were immediately available.
