Representing and serving the residents of Walker and Dade Counties for the last six years has been one of the great honors of my life. Today, I ask the voters in Georgia House District One for another two years to serve you. In the Georgia House, I have worked with my colleagues to return 9 billion dollars in excess funds to taxpayers in the form of temporary suspension of the gas tax and rebates on both income and property taxes. We are currently working on legislation in the House to end property taxes in Georgia. We have also lowered the State Income Tax to 4.99%.

Individually, I passed HB 350 in the House that would allow infant safety devices, aka baby boxes, in various locations around the state to save infants who are abandoned. In addition, HB 57 would close a loophole in the incest law in Georgia by including step grandchildren.

I have worked in the district on a number of road issues including putting flashers at the top of Highway 136 going down into Trenton for safety and the addition of turn lanes at the intersection of Highways 341 and 193. I worked with local partners on funding two playgrounds in Rossville – one at the John Ross Commons, aka the Duck Pond, and on Salem Road – the soon-to-be-completed Adventure Acres. In Lafayette, I worked with local partners on a recreation grant to build a walking trail on the Chattooga River and a rock climbing wall. It’s also an honor to work with local groups on hunger issues, especially in our schools.

My office works every day on constituent issues like licensing, mental health in our jails, and other issues that constituents and local government partners encounter.

At the end of the day, the hours are long and I put approximately 40,000 miles a year on my car working in the district and in Atlanta. It’s a real joy helping people with their issues. I hope you the voters will do me the honor of continuing to serve you for two more years.

Early voting starts April 27th and election day is May 19th.

Thank you again for allowing me to serve you.

Sincerely,
