Chattooga County Man Sentenced to Life in Prison After Conviction on Sexual Assault Charges

A Chattooga County man has been sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving a minor family member.

On February 19, 2026, a Chattooga County jury found 46-year-old Ricky Lamar Blackmon guilty following a three-day trial in Superior Court. The trial was presided over by Chief Superior Court Judge Brian House.

Blackmon was convicted on all seven counts brought against him, including rape, incest, and child molestation. The charges stemmed from the sexual assault of a minor relative.

Following the jury’s verdict, Blackmon received a life sentence.

Prosecutors presented evidence over the course of the three-day trial detailing the offenses, which ultimately led jurors to return guilty verdicts on each count.
