Relief on the Way: Georgia Gas Tax Suspension Set to Take Effect
ATLANTA, GA — Relief could soon be on the way for drivers across Georgia, including here in Walker County, as Governor Brian Kemp prepares to sign legislation suspending the state’s motor fuel tax.
The Georgia General Assembly has passed House Bill 1199, which temporarily suspends the gas tax in an effort to provide immediate financial relief to families and commuters.
Governor Kemp announced he plans to sign the bill, calling it “great news for all Georgians” as residents continue to deal with rising costs.
Once signed, the measure is expected to lower the price at the pump, offering savings for drivers across the state.
State leaders say the suspension is designed to help offset higher fuel prices and ease the burden on working families.
Additional details, including how long the tax suspension will remain in effect, are expected to be released once the bill is officially signed into law.
