Dalton, GA — Whitney Echenique, a small business owner, working mother, and logistics professional, has officially announced her candidacy for Georgia State House District 2, which includes parts of Whitfield, Catoosa, and Walker Counties, becoming the first Democratic candidate to appear on the ballot in more than two decades.
Echenique, who lives in Dalton with her family, said her decision to run comes from both personal experience and the realities facing working families today.
“I’ve seen how quickly stability can change, even for people who are doing everything right,” Echenique said. “I’m running because families and seniors deserve practical leadership that focuses on real solutions, including lowering the cost of living, healthcare they can use, strong schools, and communities that are safe and healthy.”
Raised in a working-class family, Echenique experienced firsthand the importance of reliable support systems after the loss of her father at a young age. Today, she brings both personal perspective and professional experience to the challenges facing Northwest Georgia families.
“I believe leadership should be about solving problems, not fighting or dividing people,” she said. “I’m committed to listening, learning, and earning the trust of this community.”
