Today marks the final day for early voting in Walker County ahead of the upcoming runoff election. You can vote today at the Elections Offices from 9am until 5pm.
Early voting is being held at a single location, the Elections Office at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette, and county officials say the limited availability is due to the short turnaround time associated with runoff elections.
Officials acknowledge that early voting hours can be challenging for residents who work full-time or have family responsibilities. However, they say opening additional early voting locations is not feasible because establishing a satellite site requires staffing, equipment, scheduling, and funding that cannot be coordinated within the condensed runoff timeline. Satellite early voting locations are typically reserved for larger elections, such as general primaries and general elections, when more time and resources are available.
On Election Day, next Tuesday, all 11 precincts across Walker County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to serve voters throughout the county. Voters must cast their ballot at their assigned precinct on Election Day.
