Walker County School Board to Meet Monday; Recognitions, Budget Items on Agenda

The Walker County Board of Education is scheduled to hold its regular monthly meeting Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Department of Education building, located at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette.

Several student and academic achievements will be highlighted during special recognitions, including the 2026 STAR Students and Teachers, 2026 Georgia Scholars and healthcare industry certification honorees from LaFayette High School.

Board members will also receive updates through the superintendent’s report and a facilities report before moving into action items.

Among the individual action items are approval of the financial report, consideration of an employee supplement, a proposed salary formula for the assistant superintendent, an amended capital project limit and the fiscal year 2026 school nutrition budget.

A lengthy list of consent agenda items is also up for approval, including minutes from previous meetings, technology purchases, facility upgrades and multiple agreements with vendors and partner organizations. Notable items include MacBook purchases for Naomi Elementary School, HVAC renovations at Rock Spring Elementary, continued work at the Walker County College and Career Academy, and security and facility improvements at several schools across the district.

Agreements with outside organizations, including Berry College, Chattanooga State Community College and various service providers, are also included, along with contracts for upcoming school-related travel and events.

The agenda also includes time for public participation, executive session and personnel recommendations before adjournment.
