A Catoosa County jury has convicted a 42-year-old man on multiple charges stemming from years of physical and sexual abuse involving a young child.
Christopher Lee McClure was found guilty on September 24, 2026, following a four-day trial. A judge handed down the maximum sentence allowed under Georgia law, ordering McClure to serve two consecutive life sentences plus an additional 110 years in prison.
Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Kathleen V.P. Davis announced the conviction and sentencing in the following news release:
On September 24, 2026, a Catoosa County jury convicted Christopher Lee McClure for physically
and sexually abusing a nine-year-old child, after a four-day trial before Superior Court Judge Chris Arnt.
McClure, 42, was convicted on the eight-count indictment for crimes including: aggravated sodomy,
aggravated child molestation, cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated assault and other charges.
Evidence presented at trial showed that McClure physically abused the child for years including,
but not limited to,striking the child in the head with a broomstick which led to the child having a laceration
to the head, and strangling the child nearly to the point of losing consciousness. After the physical abuse
was discovered by law enforcement, the child disclosed that McClure repeatedly sodomized the child.
Medical evidence was presented at trial which corroborated the years of physical and sexual abuse.
The case was investigated by Detective Rebecca Jordan of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective Jordan originally investigated the case as a physical abuse case and interviewed several
witnesses who reported seeing unexplained bruises on the child’s face on multiple occasions. After the
child disclosed sexual abuse, Detective Jordan secured medical evidence which was crucial to the case.
The case was presented to the jury by Senior Assistant District Attorney David Wolfe and Assistant
District Attorney Grace Talbot. They were assisted by Victim Witness Advocate Britany Moses, who
compassionately assisted the victim and other witnesses through the trial process, and District Attorney’s
Office Chief Investigator Christy Smith who provided investigation and support to the team. At trial,
ADAs Wolfe and Talbot presented to the jury photographs of the child’s injuries as well as the testimony
of several witnesses who personally saw the bruises and laceration on the child. Expert medical testimony
was offered regarding injuries the child received due to the sexual abuse.
On September 24, 2026, the jury found Christopher McClure guilty on all charges, after less than
an hour of deliberation. That same day, Judge Arnt held a sentencing hearing for McClure. During that
hearing, ADA Wolfe pointed out that McClure had no remorse for his actions and the danger McClure
posed if he was ever allowed to return to the community. Judge Arnt sentenced McClure to serve two
consecutive life sentences plus a consecutive 110 years in prison followed by 20 years of Sex Offender
probation, the maximum allowable sentence under Georgia Law.
From District Attorney Kathleen V.P. Davis: “This conviction represents Senior ADA Wolfe’s
unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety of children in our community. It also reflects the commitment
by our law enforcement and other community partners to the pursuit of justice for these most vulnerable
members of society. We thank everyone who assisted in securing this conviction.”
