Join the American Legion Auxiliary Chickamauga Unit 217 at Down Home Days on May 17 for a heartfelt tribute to our nation’s heroes during Poppy Day. Visit our booth to take part in honoring veterans with poppy plate crafts that will be displayed at Holland-Watson Veterans Memorial Park through Memorial Day. Kids can enjoy free poppy coloring books, while everyone can learn the moving story behind In Flanders Fields and the Georgia teacher, Moina Michael, who helped inspire the poppy tradition. Donate at several local sites to receive a handmade veteran-crafted poppy, enter our raffle for the powerful diamond art piece “No One Fights Alone”, and support Wreaths Across Walker County to help remember veterans with wreaths this holiday season. Celebrate, honor, and support those who served—right here in Chickamauga.
