Power was restored in yesterday Chickamauga after an outage. Georgia Power says a fallen tree may have damaged wires, forcing crews to temporarily de-energize the lines for repairs. Nearly 500 customers in Chickamauga and Fort Oglethorpe were affected. The power was back on by 9pm.
Three felony arrests Saturday in Walker County. 23-year-old Ethan James Madaris was charged with possession of firearms and terroristic threats. 49-year-old Jose DeJesus Vega was charged with felony aggravated assault. Shadoe Stephen Pate, 35-years old was arrested on DUI-Drugs, feeling and eluding and possession of fentanyl.
A Summerville man is facing multiple charges after a child exploitation investigation in Floyd County. Authorities say 37-year-old Alan Scott Holbrook was arrested in Rome after arranging to meet someone he believed was a child for sex. He’s charged with child molestation, obscene internet contact, and grooming a child for sexual servitude. Police say Holbrook was also found with drugs including Adderall and Oxycodone at the time of his arrest.
The annual Hands Across the Border traffic enforcement campaign is underway ahead of Labor Day weekend. Georgia law enforcement is teaming up with officers in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and Tennessee for joint road checks targeting drunk and drugged drivers, speeders, and seatbelt violations. The campaign, which began as a friendly challenge in 1991, now spans all five states to help keep roads safer during the busy holiday travel period. Officials urge drivers to slow down, buckle up, and stay sober behind the wheel.
LaFayette High School Lady Rambler Softball is back in action today. They’ll take the field at Heritage at 5:30pm. The team will play again Wednesday and Thursday of this week. All games are on the road.
