This week’s restaurant health inspection scores are in —and the results are impressive. Subway in Chickamauga, received a perfect score of 100. Jack’s Family Restaurant in LaFayette, also earned a perfect 100. Papa John’s Pizza in LaFayette scored a 98. Several schools and childcare facilities also made the grade this week. Rossville Middle School, Gilbert Elementary, South Walker Head Start, and LaFayette Middle School all earned perfect scores of 100 on their inspections.
Chrysler is recalling over 163,000 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer SUVs from model years 2022 to 2025. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says trim on the front doors may detach while driving, creating a road hazard and increasing crash risk. No injuries have been reported, but Chrysler has received over 400 related warranty claims. Dealers will inspect and fix the issue for free. Owners will be notified by mail by October 31. A special event is happening today at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library. Today at 6pm, Jim Cheney, author of the book “Remains” will be there discussing his book. The novel is based on the events surrounding the Noble Crematory. Cheney will be discussing his book and the research that went into it. The event is free.
Congratulations are in order to the LaFayette softball team. The Lady Ramblers beat Heritage last night to clinch their first region title in 19 years! It was an impressive 9-0 win. Marlie Day pitched a 6 inning, no-hitter, allowing only one walk on 67 pitches. This is her second career no hitter. Tamra Yancy went 2-4 with 4 RBI. Addi Hogue went 2-3 with 2 RBI and 2 runs. The varsity team is back in action Monday as they host Gilmer in a doubleheader starting at 5 PM.
