The LaFayette Downtown Development Authority is looking for creative retail entrepreneurs to sublease the upstairs level of the Historic Mars Theater in downtown LaFayette. The space is about 18-hundred square feet, with both stair access from Chattanooga Street and a planned ADA-accessible entrance at the rear of the building. The DDA is especially interested in businesses that are art-focused and community-oriented — something that will add to the growing arts and cultural scene downtown.
Pilgrim’s will break ground on its new prepared foods facility in LaFayette next week. The ceremony is set for Thursday, November 13th at 10:30 a.m. at 157 Glass Road. Company leaders, local officials, and community members are expected to attend. The new facility represents a major investment in Walker County and is anticipated to bring new job opportunities to the area. A brief program and official groundbreaking photo will take place during the event. Community members are welcome to attend.
The Walker County Historical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Sunday, November 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Marsh House. This is the group’s annual business meeting, which includes the election of officers. The program will feature Penny and Forrest Simmons discussing how biking, recreation, tourism, and historic preservation come together in McLemore Cove.
