Georgia State Senator Colton Moore has officially entered the race for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District. Moore is running for the U.S. House seat that will be vacated when Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation takes effect on January 5th. Moore says his campaign will focus on support for President Donald Trump, Pro-Life and Pro-Gun positions, stricter immigration enforcement, and lowering consumer costs like fuel and groceries. The race is expected to draw major attention, with more candidates likely to announce soon.
Voters in northwest Georgia should take note of several key election dates coming up. The special election to fill Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s seat is set for March 17th. If no candidate wins more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff will be held on April 14th. Georgia’s general primary election follows on May 19th, as voters head to the polls for races across the state.
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and the Georgia Department of Education are launching a statewide effort to place opioid overdose reversal kits in every public school. The initiative is funded through opioid settlement dollars and supports “Wesley’s Law,” which allows schools to carry and administer Narcan. More than 2,300 schools will receive the kits, with distribution already underway and full coverage expected by Spring 2026. The program also includes training for school staff to respond to overdose emergencies.
