New details on the arrest of LaFayette High School assistant principal Ronnie Massey.  Investigators say they found child pornography obtained by Massey on the messaging app Kik Messenger.  Officials with the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office say they executed a search warrant at Massey’s home on June 2nd, following a cyber tip about illegal material being downloaded from a specific IP address.  Investigators traced the activity to Massey’s device and discovered images and videos of child exploitation on two separate Kik Messenger accounts. Massey admitted to receiving 12 videos through the app.  He now faces ten counts of computer pornography as authorities continue their investigation.
Georgia taxpayers started receiving another tax refund this week. The amount depends on how you filed your taxes: $250 for singles and married filing separately, $375 for head of household, and $500 for married couples filing jointly.  To qualify, you must have filed income taxes in both 2023 and 2024, have no outstanding state tax debt, and have paid into the system.  This refund is thanks to Georgia’s tax surplus and was approved by lawmakers in House Bill 112.  Governor Brian Kemp says this refund, along with the state’s biggest income tax cut ever, is about putting money back in the hands of Georgians.
