Two people are facing animal cruelty charges in Walker County following a welfare check on several horses.  Walker County Animal Control officers launched a two-day investigation after receiving complaints about malnourished horses at a property just outside Rossville, at 44 Manor Lane.  Raul Rodriguez, 47, has been charged with 12 counts of animal cruelty, while Belinda Rodriguez, 56, faces 11 counts.  Officers found multiple horses in poor condition, showing signs of emaciation, open wounds, missing fur, and inflamed skin—clear evidence of neglect. A veterinarian examined the animals and confirmed they were suffering from pain due to lack of proper care. However, the vet said the neglect did not appear to be intentional.  After the owners agreed to surrender the animals, authorities removed a total of four horses, three donkeys, two mini-horses, two pigs, a rabbit, and several chickens and goats from the property. The animals most in need of urgent care were taken to TMMA Farms & Sanctuary in Trion, while the others were placed with a livestock rescue organization.
