The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a suspicious letter.  Recently, a Walker County citizen received a letter accompanied by a check for nearly four thousand dollars—$3,990.69. However, officials say this kind of unexpected payment from unknown sources is highly unusual.  The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone who receives such letters or checks not to attempt to cash them. They also warn against sending money or personal information to unfamiliar individuals or businesses.  If you receive something suspicious or have questions, local law enforcement encourages you to reach out to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office or Police Department immediately.  Remember, always be cautious with unexpected financial offers and report anything unusual.  You can view the letter on our website at DiscoverWalker.com.
Tuesday is Election Day in Walker County, with a Special Primary Election happening across Georgia.  On June 17th, voters will head to the polls to fill the Public Service Commissioner seats for Districts 2 and 3. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at all 11 Walker County precincts.  Public Service Commissioners have an important job overseeing how utilities like electricity and gas are regulated in the state. Voters are encouraged to check their registration status and familiarize themselves with the candidates before heading to the polls.
Three felony arrests in Walker County on Wednesday.  36-year-old Dale Robert Thompson, 38-year-old Robert Jacob Grasham and 40-year-old Tabitha Nichole Gant all face felony probation violation charges.
The Walker County School Board will hold it’s monthly meeting on Monday at 6pm.  The school board will also hold a called budget session beginning at 5pm.  Both meetings take place at the Central Office.
