With the hot weather we are experiencing this week , the Red Cross of Georgia is urging residents to take precautions against extreme heat. They recommend three key steps: stay hydrated by drinking water every hour, stay cool in air-conditioned spaces, and stay connected by checking on others—especially seniors, outdoor workers, and athletes. Never leave children or pets in parked cars, and know the signs of heat illness like cramps, dizziness, or nausea. For severe symptoms, seek medical help or call 911. Stay safe this summer. More tips are available at RedCross.org.

Georgia is expected to see record-breaking travel this Independence Day holiday. Nearly 2.3 million Georgians will hit the road, skies, and rails between June 28 and July 6—a nearly 3% increase over last year. More than 2 million state residents plan to drive, about 164,000 will fly within the country, and roughly 104,000 will use buses, trains, or cruises . Nationwide, nearly 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more this holiday—1.7 million more than last year and 7 million above 2019 levels. With so many on the move, Georgians and travelers nationwide are advised to plan ahead, watch for congestion, and allow extra time at airports and on the roads.
