A Chickamauga man has been sentenced to life in prison for a deadly road rage shooting outside a Dollar General store. Jeremy Dewayne McCrary, 44, will be eligible for parole after 35 years, plus he’ll serve an extra five for aggravated assault. McCrary was sentenced yesterday. The shooting happened in March 2022, after an SUV allegedly swerved in front of McCrary and other motorcyclists. The vehicles ended up in a Dollar General parking lot, where McCrary shot driver Danny Claire during a fight. Claire died at the scene. McCrary was convicted earlier this month.
An 18-year-old man was booked into the Walker County Detention Center early Tuesday morning on serious felony charges. According to booking records, Jacob Rex Moen was taken into custody at 7:47 a.m. and is facing charges of aggravated child molestation and two counts of aggravated sodomy. At this time, the LaFayette Police Department has not released further details about the incident or the investigation.

LaFayette native Channing Wilson is headed to national TV this fall. The country singer-songwriter announced on Facebook Wednesday that he’s one of 12 contestants featured on CBS’s new show The Road. Produced by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, with Blake Shelton and Keith Urban also serving as executive producers, The Road gives viewers a backstage pass into the gritty life of a touring artist. Wilson, known for writing hits for Luke Combs, Riley Green, Travis Tritt, and The Oak Ridge Boys, will join other rising musicians as they pile into a tour bus and chase their dreams. The show will air Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
