In Walker County, arrest warrants are out for Ronald and Melissa Jackson after authorities found three dead dogs and five others neglected inside a McFarland Avenue business. Deputies say the animals were left without food, water, or ventilation — one puppy died shortly after being rescued. The couple faces 17 charges, including six felonies for aggravated animal cruelty. If convicted, they could face up to 30 years in prison. Officials say the Jacksons claimed they were living in a hotel and moved the dogs temporarily — but they’ve yet to turn themselves in.
Two felony arrests in Walker County on Sunday. 55-year-old William Craig Ramsey was arrested on felony charges of simple battery and violation of probation. 46-year-old Sherry Lea Whitten was charged with possession of a schedule II and schedule IV.
A major meth trafficker will spend the next 10 years behind bars after a major drug bust in Northwest Georgia. Julie Abigail Manis was sentenced to 20 years — with 10 to serve — after pleading guilty to trafficking and possession with intent to distribute. Agents with the Lookout Mountain Drug Task Force seized over 40 ounces of meth during a controlled operation last November.
