Walker County Commission Chair Angie Teems is continuing her Town Hall meetings across the county.  Teems will be at the Mount Pleasant Community Center today in Rising Fawn.  The Town Hall starts at 6pm.  The meetings offer residents another opportunity to engage directly with county leadership. The series, themed “Common Sense Is Our Common Ground,” is designed to promote open dialogue and community involvement.
The first day of school is getting closer.  Real close in fact for some in the area.  Walker County heads back to the classroom on August 7th.  In Chattooga County, they go back to school this week.  Friday is the first day of school there.  Dade County also starts on August 7th while Catoosa County goes back the next day, August 8th.
Three people were arrested on felony charges Tuesday in Walker County.  Among those booked, 42-year-old Christie Nicole Grubb was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats.  33-year-old Victor Manuel Rodriguez is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and battery.  21-year-old Madison Leigh Kuykendall was booked on a felony charge of false imprisonment.
Two people were found dead inside a home across from Chattooga High School on Highway 114 Monday evening. Deputies responded to a welfare check after neighbors reported no activity at the home for about three weeks. With help from the Summerville Fire Department, officers entered the residence and discovered the bodies. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner are investigating, and autopsies are being conducted by the GBI. No identities or cause of death have been released at this time.
School starts soon, that means Rambler athletes will soon be on the field.  It starts this month.  July 29th LaFayette softball will host their annual Black and Orange Scrimmage.  On July 31st softball will face North Murray in a pre-season scrimmage.  The seasons starts August first at home again LFO.  First pitch is set for 5:30pm.  The volleyball team will host a scrimmage match on August 5th against Christian Heritage at 5:30pm.  The football team opens their season on August 15th hosting Chattooga while LaFayette Cross County begins action on August 23rd competing at Heritage.
