The mother of a two-year-old shot in the head on Christmas morning in Walker County has been arrested on unrelated charges.
Authorities say thirty-two-year-old Candice Nicole McClain of Chickamauga was taken into custody by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office on Walker County warrants. She faces two misdemeanor counts of unlawful conduct on a 9-1-1 call, accused of making multiple harassing calls on December twenty-third and twenty-four. Authorities are working to extradite her back to Georgia.

The LaFayette Mayor and City Council will hold an organizational meeting Friday at ten a.m. at City Hall. The meeting includes the swearing-in of newly elected officials, the election of a mayor pro tem, and committee appointments. Council members will also consider selecting a firm for a Safe Streets for All planning grant and a variance request for pond construction at Traverse Park.

Georgia has been awarded nearly two hundred nineteen million dollars for the first year of the GREAT Health Initiative, a program aimed at strengthening rural healthcare statewide.
