Early voting starts Monday in Walker County. That’s for the March 10th Special Election. Voters will see two races on their ballot. U.S. House of Representatives, District 14. And Georgia State Senate, District 53. The main early voting site is the Walker County Elections Office. It’s at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Extended hours will be offered Tuesday, March 3. Polls open at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Saturday voting is also available February 21 and February 28. Same hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Satellite locations will open in Rock Spring, Rossville, Chickamauga, and Fairyland. They will be open Saturday, February 28, and weekdays March 2 through March 6. Extended hours will also be offered March 3. Election Day is Tuesday, March 10. All 11 precincts will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must go to their assigned precinct.
The latest Walker County Restaurant Inspection scores shows several 100’s. Including South Walker Head Start, North LaFayette Elementary, LaFayette Middles and Chickamauga Elementary. The Walker County Historic Preservation Commission will hold its monthly meeting tomorrow at 6 p.m. The meeting was moved from today because the Lafayette-Walker County Public Library is closed for President’s Day.
The Walker County Board of Education meets tomorrow night at 6 p.m. The meeting will be at the Department of Education building on North Cherokee Street in LaFayette. The agenda includes honoring Spelling Bee winners, updates on school facilities, and the superintendent’s report. Board members will also review the FY2027 calendar, the December financial report, and school contracts.
The LaFayette Lady Ramblers advanced to the region tournament with a 42-39 win Saturday over Calhoun. The Lady Ramblers continue play tonight. Tip off is set for 7:30pm when they will face Ridgeland at Ridgeland. You can hear the game on Georgia 93-7 tonight. The Winner of that game faces Gilmer on Wednesday. Boys action in the region tournament begins tomorrow night when LaFayette will travel to Northwest Whitfield to face Gilmer. That game is set for a 6pm tip off and we will have that one for you here on Georgia 93-7 as well.
