          A judge with the Walker County Superior Court has denied a legal challenge to the City of Chickamauga charter filed by former Mayor Trey Deck.  Deck challenged the charter after the Chickamauga City Council voted to remove him from office following misconduct allegations.  The court ruled the charter is lawful and provides fair procedures.  A hearing on the case is scheduled for March fourth.
           Walker County authorities are asking for help locating a man wanted in an auto theft investigation.  The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says Kevin Malcom has three outstanding warrants connected to a theft reported October seventh at Three Notch Auto in Rossville.  Anyone with information is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.   Officials remind the public not to approach wanted individuals.  You can find more details on this story including a photo of Malcom on our website at DiscoverWalker.com and the DiscoverWalker Facebook page.
          The Georgia House of Representatives has passed a bill to further reduce the state income tax rate.  House Bill 1001 would lower the rate from 5-point-1-9 percent to 4-point-9-9 percent, effective July first, 2026, if approved.  Supporters say the cut would provide financial relief to taxpayers.  The measure now heads to the Georgia State Senate for consideration.
         The City of Fort Oglethorpe is hosting town hall meetings to discuss a waterline replacement project on Battlefield Parkway, between Lafayette Road and South Cedar Lane.  Meetings are set for today, at City Hall, with sessions at 9 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m.  City officials say each meeting will last about an hour and give residents a chance to ask questions and provide feedback.
         LaFayette High School Boys Basketball season came to an end last night in the first round of the GHSA State Tournament.  The Ramblers fell to Long County 70-54.  Ridgeland picked up a win in their opening round game and Panthers are advancing into the second round.
