Walker County Schools will be on a two hour delay this morning, March 16th., joined by Catoosa County, Chickamauga City Schools, Dade and Whitfield Counties. School officials say the delay was based on the overnight forecast calling for strong storms and wind gusts across the area. The two-hour delay is intended to allow conditions to improve and help ensure safer travel for students and staff. Families should plan for bus and school start times to run two hours later than usual. Again Walker County Schools delayed two hours this Monday morning.

A Freeze Warning is in effect from 11 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Tuesday across much of central and northern Georgia. The National Weather Service says overnight temperatures could drop as low as 20 degrees. Frost and freezing conditions may damage or kill crops and other sensitive plants, and unprotected outdoor plumbing could also be at risk. Residents are urged to take precautions by covering or bringing in tender vegetation. To help prevent frozen pipes, wrap exposed plumbing, drain outdoor lines, or allow faucets to drip slowly overnight.
