           A two-year-old child from Rock Spring is in critical condition after being shot in the head Christmas morning, according to the Walker County Sheriff’s Department.  Deputies were called to a home on Tarvin Road around 9:50 a.m. First responders found the toddler suffering from a gunshot wound and rushed the child to a local hospital, where the child is undergoing surgery.  Sheriff Wilson says the child’s father and another infant were inside the home at the time of the shooting. No other injuries were reported.  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Walker County Department of Family and Children’s Services are assisting with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
          The National Integrated Drought Information System says that despite this being one of the wettest years on record, November was one of the driest months for Walker County.  Rainfall last month was down almost 2-inches below normal.  November 2025 was the 24th driest November on record.  That lack of rainfall has put us in moderate drought conditions according to NIDAS.  Year to date, we are 3 ½ inches above normal.  This has been the 40th wettest year in the past 131.  Patrick Core has your weather forecast all day on Georgia 93-7.
          The Walker County Animal Shelter is back open today from 10am to 4pm.  The shelter is closed tomorrow and Sunday.
