A small earthquake rattled part of Walker County Sunday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 2.4 magnitude quake struck just outside LaFayette at about 6:37 a.m. The quake was centered roughly 2.4 miles southwest of town at a depth of about 3.4 miles underground.
There are no reports of damage or injuries, and most quakes of this size are only lightly felt — if at all.
Minor seismic activity is not unusual in Northwest Georgia. The last recorded earthquake in the area happened on November 13th near Chickamauga.
