Advance Voting Set to Begin for Special Runoff Elections Across Northwest Georgia
Voters across Northwest Georgia, including Walker and Catoosa counties, will head back to the polls for two important runoff elections this spring.
The special runoff election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with early voting beginning Monday, March 30, and running through Thursday, April 2. There will be no weekend voting and no voting on Friday, April 3, due to Good Friday.
What’s on the Ballot
Georgia voters will decide two races:
U.S. House District 14
- Democrat Shawn Harris
- Republican Clay Fuller, who received an endorsement from President Donald Trump
The winner will fill the currently vacant seat previously held by Marjorie Taylor Greene but will need to run again in the next regular election to retain the position.
Georgia State Senate District 53
- Democrat Jack Zibluk
- Republican Lanny Thomas
Both races advanced to a runoff after no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote in the March 10 special election.
Walker County Voting Information
In Walker County, early voting will take place at the Elections Office located at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette.
- Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Dates: March 30 through April 2
Election officials say the limited early voting schedule is due to the short turnaround for the runoff election.
On Election Day April 7th, all 11 precincts in Walker County will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Catoosa County Voting Information
In neighboring Catoosa County, early voting will be available at two locations:

- Westside Precinct
Early voting hours:
- Monday through Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Thursday, April 2: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
On Election Day, voters will cast ballots at their assigned precincts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Important Reminder
Election officials encourage residents to take advantage of early voting to avoid potential lines and ensure participation in these key runoff races.
