Drivers in Catoosa, Dade, and Walker counties are seeing some relief at the pump, with average gas prices dropping to $2.75 per gallon—the lowest among Georgia’s metro areas.
Statewide, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.91 per gallon, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group. That’s one cent higher than last week, unchanged from a month ago, and 31 cents cheaper than this time last year.
Filling a 15-gallon tank now costs the average Georgia driver about $43.65, nearly $5 less than a year ago.
“We’re only seeing a slight uptick in Georgia’s gas prices right now,” said Montrae Waiters, spokesperson for AAA. “With crude oil prices holding steady and summer travel tapering off, increases at the pump remain minimal as we head into the final days of the season.”
Nationally, the average price remains stable at $3.13 per gallon, continuing a summer trend of relatively low fuel costs. AAA notes, however, that with peak hurricane season approaching, storms could disrupt production and lead to price changes in the coming weeks.
