Channing Wilson delivered a standout performance in Nashville Sunday night, earning his place in the finale of CBS’ The Road as the competition narrowed from four artists to three.

The episode featured the Top 4 contestants performing in front of a live audience at Marathon Music Works after an earlier round at the legendary Bluebird Cafe, where they also played alongside Keith Urban. The semifinalists each performed a duet, a cover song, and an original composition, with audience votes ultimately determining who would advance.

Wilson, who has consistently ranked among the show’s top performers, teamed up with Cassidy Daniels for a powerful duet of “Jackson” by Johnny Cash and June Carter.

Closing out the night, Wilson took the stage for his solo performances, covering “Midnight Rider” by The Allman Brothers Band. Judge John Osborne praised the fresh approach, saying he had “never heard it done like that.” Wilson then performed his original song, “Dead Man Walking,” from his 2023 album, written after he nearly died from a heart blockage.

“That song is badass,” TJ Osborne said, noting Wilson’s ability to command the stage without movement. John Osborne jokingly added that they should “go cut that in the studio” themselves.

Before revealing the results, Urban told the contestants it was the strongest night of performances yet. He singled out Wilson, saying, “Channing, you killed it tonight, brother,” while praising the high standards of the Nashville audience.

When the votes were announced, Britnee Kellogg was eliminated from the competition. Kellogg became emotional as Urban reminded her she had survived nine weeks on the show, saying her name was now known by “so many people.” Kellogg said the experience was life-changing and vowed to continue performing while inspiring other mothers to pursue their dreams.

Wilson, along with Cassidy Daniels and Adam Sanders, will now move on to the Season 1 finale. The remaining three artists will open for Urban one final time, with a winner to be named during the live finale.

The Road Season 1 Finale airs Sunday, December 21, at 9:30/8:30 p.m. on CBS.
