Chattanooga Man Charged with Murder in Walker County Shooting
A Chattanooga man is facing murder charges in connection with the death of a Walker County resident.
According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies discovered 38-year-old Robin Fredale Sutton dead inside a home in Rossville on Sunday, March 1.
Authorities say deputies were called to a residence on Gilbert Street to conduct a welfare check on Sutton. When they arrived, they found Sutton deceased from a gunshot wound.
Investigators with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, along with agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, launched an investigation into the death.
Following the investigation, 28-year-old Jermaine Matthew Jackson of Chattanooga was taken into custody.
Detectives traveled to Jackson’s residence on South Howell Avenue in Chattanooga and transported him to the East Ridge Police Department for questioning.
On Tuesday, March 3, around noon, authorities obtained a warrant charging Jackson with Sutton’s murder.
Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Jackson is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail and will be extradited to Walker County to face charges.
Investigators say the motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the case is still under investigation.
