CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in City of LaFayette to fill the vacancy in the office of City Council Member, Ward 1, caused by the passing of the Honorable Beecher Garmany. The special election will be held on March 18, 2025.
Qualifying for the special election shall be held at The Walker County Courthouse, beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, and ending at Noon on Thursday, January 23, 2025. The qualifying fee shall be $108.
All people who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register to vote through the close of business on February 17, 2025.
Early voting will be held February 24, 2025 through March 14, 2025, 8:00 am-5:00pm. Saturday voting will be March 1, 2025, and March 8, 2025, from 9 am. until 5 p.m.
To request an absentee ballot by mail, contact the Walker County Board of Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-638-4349. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is March 7, 2025.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, March 18, 2025.
