Georgia State Patrol troopers are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Monday afternoon on State Route 151, also known as Alabama Highway.
According to a preliminary report, the wreck happened shortly after 4 p.m. on November 10. Investigators say a young female juvenile with a learner’s permit was driving north when the passenger-side tires of her vehicle drifted off the roadway. The driver overcorrected while navigating a left-hand curve, causing the car to rotate into the southbound lane.
The vehicle spun into the path of an oncoming SUV, which struck the car on its passenger side.
A front-seat passenger in the juvenile’s vehicle, identified as 50-year-old Dawn Payne, died at the scene. No additional details about other injuries or the condition of the second driver have been released. The crash remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol.
