Downtown LaFayette will come alive tonight for the annual Scare on the Square Halloween celebration. The event features contests, costumes, and plenty of candy for trick-or-treaters throughout the downtown area.
Festivities kick off this afternoon with the Pumpkin Decorating and Carving Contest at the Downtown Commons. Participants can drop off their entries between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. The Costume Contest begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by the announcement of pumpkin contest winners at 5:30.
Once downtown merchants are ready, trick-or-treating will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until the event wraps up at 7:00. Roads in the downtown area will close at 5:00 to make way for the celebration.
