Early Voting for Runoff Election Set for Single Location in Walker County

SHARE NOW

Walker County election officials have announced early voting plans for the upcoming runoff election, which will take place at a single location in LaFayette.

Early voting will be held March 30 through April 2, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Walker County Elections Office, located at 311 South Main Street in LaFayette.

County officials say early voting is limited to one location due to the short turnaround time required for runoff elections. Establishing satellite early voting sites requires staffing, equipment, scheduling and funding that cannot be coordinated within the condensed timeframe. Officials noted that satellite locations are typically reserved for larger elections such as General Primaries and General Elections, though Walker County has expanded access when possible in the past.

While acknowledging that early voting hours can be challenging for some residents, officials said the limited schedule and added expense of a runoff election make additional locations impractical.

Election Day is set for Tuesday, April 7, when all 11 precincts across Walker County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must cast their ballots at their assigned precinct on Election Day.
