A special election to fill the Georgia State Senate seat vacated by Colton Moore will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Governor Brian Kemp issued a writ of election following Moore’s qualification for the special election to fill the vacancy in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Under state law, Moore’s qualification created a vacancy in Senate District 53.
The governor’s executive order was released this week and directs the Georgia Secretary of State to conduct the special election in accordance with the Georgia Constitution and state election code.
The winner of the March 10 election will fill the District 53 seat in the Georgia State Senate.
March 10 is also the election date to determine Georgia’s 14th Congressional representative.
