The Empty the Shelters® adoption event kicks off today, July 7, at the Walker County Animal Shelter, offering reduced adoption fees to help more pets find forever homes.
Now through Friday, July 19, adoption fees are waived for animals over four months old, while pets younger than four months are available for just $25.
Hosted by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, the Empty the Shelters campaign is a nationwide effort to reduce overcrowding and encourage pet adoption. Since its launch in 2016, the initiative has helped more than 324,000 animals get adopted from shelters across the country.
The Walker County Animal Shelter is joining dozens of shelters across the U.S. in this effort. Local residents are encouraged to visit, meet the adoptable cats and dogs, and take advantage of the reduced fees.
