The Walker County Animal Shelter is entering the final days of its “Empty the Shelters” adoption event, offering reduced fees in an effort to place more animals into permanent homes before the holidays. The event continues today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Adoption fees are waived for animals four months and older, while pets under four months may be adopted for $25.
Shelter officials report that ten animals have already been adopted in the first three days of the event. However, many dogs and cats are still waiting for families, and staff are encouraging the community to consider giving a shelter pet a fresh start this season.
